Each year Jobvite (a company that makes social media recruitment software), conducts a survey on how employers are using social networks to recruit employees. This year’s online survey was conducted between May and June 2011; over 800 human resource and recruiting professionals in the U.S. participated in the survey. Respondents answered questions using an online survey tools and the response data is available only in aggregate form.
According to their report, about 89% of employers will use social networks for recruiting this year up from 83% in 2010, 55% will spend more on social recruiting, 64% will use 2 or more networks for recruiting, and 78% expect increased competition for hires.
As you would expect, LinkedIn was the most popular social media site used for recruiting (87%) a trend that will almost certainly continue to grow.
Today LinkedIn announced a new web plug-in that let’s employers add an “Apply with LinkedIn” button to job listings on their websites and across the web using just a few lines of code.
“Apply with Linked” let’s job seekers apply for jobs using their LinkedIn profile information and one click of a button. Applicants can then view people in their network who work within the company and request a referral or connection.
